Rainbows for Peace

Rainbow-Peace-214x300

It’s funny how you can wrack your brain over a design for days and somehow the simplest design ends up meaning so much to so many. And you know what? That’s okay.

This one is nothing new – in fact, I’ve had it a couple of years, but it always amazes me how many I sell. Symbols and colors are powerful to us as a race. Even as a child, I loved rainbows and peace signs long before rainbows were taken as a symbol of the Gay Pride Movement. They were – and are – a thing of beauty, just like the diversity in nature and people on our planet. They should be treasured and protected – always.

Events page is up

Hi all. Our events page is back up and already we are planning to have a table at Clockwork Couture in Burbank, CA in August. They created the event as soon as news was released that Doctor Who would be back on our screens with fresh, new episodes with a fresh, new Doctor starting then. We will have Doctor Who-inspired art pieces for purchase. You will also be able to watch us as we work on them AND we will also have the patterns for sale if you want the pleasure and satisfaction of beading them on your own. Come sit down and get a lesson or two when you purchase our kits with all the supplies you will need; needles, thread, beads and patterns. All you need to supply is the time and energy.

We also hope to be working on Tardis cosplay parasols as well as have some kits for the available for purchase.

Wednesday’s Pick – Fresh Water Pearl Ankhs

Ankh-Fresh-Water-Pearl-Single-earcuff-and-earring-set-2-150x300

A while ago we showcased our first Egyptian Ankh earcuff and earring sets on an appropriate day of the week – Wednesday. A variation on that design using fresh water pearls came to us when we saw these stunning royal purple pearls. How could we resist recreating these popular beauties with such beautiful, new gifts from the ocean. We couldn’t!

To remind our readers, the Ankh has powerful associations including the Symbol of Life, Immortality, Spiritual Reflection, The Three Upper Chakras, The Masculine God, Divination, Regeneration, and as a Symbol of Magick. However you incorporate it into your worship – and you don’t even have to be an Egyptian Pagan to use it, it will be sure to bring you the power built up over it’s 2,500 years as one of the most well-known totems on Earth.

A Happy Handmade Christmas

With 16 days left until Christmas, Etsy vendors are all a buzz with lots and lots of holiday goodies to brighten your home and hearth.

How do you sort through the tons of offerings, piled high like presents under the tree? The mind reels, but that’s what we bloggers do…sort through them for the coolest gifts that might catch your eye. Check out these wonderful vendors while we still have shopping days left.

For those procrastinators (like me, lol) who haven’t sent out their holiday cards yet:

Shopping in Etsy’s Pond – Energetic Orange Swirls and Whirls

Orange is the color of energy. The circle or swirl is a nature symbol of constant motion – the shape of a whirlpool, a hurricane, the vortex of a tornado. Somehow they came together in all four shops I reviewed this week. Enjoy!

Etsy – Keeping you in touch with yourself and others

I quickly found a theme betwixt and between the three shops I reviewed this week: paper and communication. Paper crafts, greeting cards and handmade journals…the connection was immediately obvious and one that I love.

How impersonal emails are when you get a million of them a day. How out of touch we can be with ourselves when our own hand is no more involved in writing our journey than tapping on a keyboard! Paper has always fixed this. Being of the “older generation”, I love the smell of paper, the personal touch of holding something written by someone else. Fascinated with calligraphy after my sister sent me something written in the flowery script, I taught myself the mysterious art when I was 12. Much later I wrote the lyrics to my and my future husband’s favorite song in calligraphy and gave it to him as a present. Knowing it has always been a special gift that is made even more precious by how little it is used today.

So, please peruse these samplings from these wonderful shops. The prices are right – treat yourself to a special gift of communication that will be remembered.
