Green and Royal Blue. The Asymmetrical Midnight Spiral Goddess Earcuff and Earring Set and it’s matching earrings were absolute joys to make, rich with these “oil-slick” like colors. Their iridescence is hypnotic – I could make jewelry from these colors all day and never get bored of them. Their otherworldly glow extends even to tarot bag fabrics, which I can never seem to leave in the fabric stores when the catch my attention. But by far, of the ones to add to the store that give me a shiver of excitement and purest burst of love are the Dragonfly Priestess Series. Copper, dragonflies and swarovski crystals made these simple, little designs so magickal for me, I can scarcely form the words for how they touch me. Read their story in the store listing – they were truly made with the purest love for the art of jewelry-making I could ever express.
Dragonflies never rest, are always darting about their environment as if in an eternal search for something. You could say I am the same way. My crafting studio is crammed with books, beads, lace and fabrics. There is always a new parasol, jewelry or purse design to be found out there and I am on a never-ending quest to hone my sewing skills ’till I find it. When will I know when I have that perfect design? When you can’t resist buying something.
But truthfully, we never reach perfection and I’m not looking to be perfect. I just want to have fun and make something that makes someone go, “Ooooo, that’s pretty.”
If you do, then I’ve done my job.
It’ll be hard to sell this one. It’s turning out really pretty. The yarn is French Muench and matched the beadwork I did down the sides perfectly even though the beadwork was done two years ago and I bought the yarn last year and from a completely different place. Next I’m doing an inner lining, then weaving the strap.
There is one last piece to upload this week…a new variation on the Egyptian Ankh earcuff. It is resisting photgraphing, but I’ll get that little bugger next week.
