WIP Wednesday – 6/16/21

The Heat is on…

So it’s hotter than hell in Los Angeles this week. And since I work indoors both at home and at a new assignment I began Monday, you’d think the heat wouldn’t get to me. Well it did. After getting off at 5:00, I went to my car, but was hit first with a wall of heat and higher-than-normal humidity just leaving the building.

You can imagine what it was like when I opened the car door.

Can’t? I’ll tell you then. The inside temperature gauge read 107. That’s right. 107. Take that in for a moment. If you’re in Arizona or the southwestern United States, I suppose you’re saying, “So what? It was 197 here today – at midnight.” If you’re elsewhere not suffering from heat or east coast/southern U.S. in the grip of soul-crushing humidity, you are damn lucky!

Enough Whining then

The point of all this bitching about the heat is that it halted any works in progress today beadwork-wise in the same way a freight train is halted by a mountain that suddenly appears on the train tracks. And that is to say, with extreme prejudice and a case of severe vertigo that nearly landed me on the bedroom floor before I could settle in to do my nightly routine of physical therapy.

Well, that sucks. Killed the exercises for the evening, too.

But one finds a way. My way was to sleep off the sickening dizziness while waiting for L.A. to cool down. So here I am, at a half-past-midnight, an hour of beadwork behind me and in the middle of blogging and bitching on a school night.

I am so gonna regret it in the morning when I get up for work, which is in 5 1/2 hours.
