  • Behind the Bead Board: Gallifrey One, On Site Sales and our Next Projects

    Poll is Still Open

Hi all. I’m keeping my peyote stitch bracelet poll open for now until I run out of ideas. Not surprisingly, “This Is The Way” from Disney’s series, “The Mandalorian” won the vote when I posted it back in late January. What did surprise me is that the Cat Pawprints didn’t tie it or at least garner any more votes since cats are so universally liked in fandom, especially amongst my personal friends.

    What Next?

I will continue to work on new designs for Doctor Who bracelets, patterns and kits. There are a ton of ideas out there I have on backlog and not enough time in this lifetime to get to them. To mix it up a little, however, I will also be doing pagan themed bracelets and My Little Pony – the latter hopefully in time for the premiere of the new generation in March.

Gallifrey One Commissions Closed and On-Site Purchases Open

Commissions are closed for deliveries to our customers at Gallifrey One, which is in TWO DAYS. Man, after the Christmas season died down, #gally1 sure came at us like a freight train! I will have patterns, kits and fully-made bracelets on ‘site if you want to purchase them and will have my credit card processing chip on me at all times if you don’t have the cash flow to do an impulse purchase. Here are the items that will be available for on ‘site sales:

    Bracelets – $80.00

    Patterns Only – $6.00

    Bracelet Kits – $65.00

  • The Angels are at Denver Comic Con

Weeping Angel at Denver Comic Con on KCDragonflyLittle Weeping Angel @ Denver Comic Con

Last month saw the first Denver Comic Con with a healthy starting attendance of nearly 20,000. There was a strong presence of the Doctor Who community in cosplay, attendees maxing out panel rooms and queueing to see a full-size Tardis. It is encouraging to see Colorado get their crack at getting some Who love in their own backyard. Thank you, Heather Maloney, for covering this and bringing it to the attention of the Doctor Who community on Twitter. You can read her full article here in the examiner.com. If you aren’t connected to her on Twitter at @DrWhoHeather, you just aren’t getting enough Who coverage in your life.

  • Articulated Wing Framework

  • Photoshoot in Calabasas – Pink and Black Goth Lolita Cosplay Parasol

Stone pillars are great for backdrops

  • A Fun Mother’s Day Outing

If your mother-in-law is like mine, she HATES having her picture taken. We often have to take sneaky pictures in order to get her on film. Sometimes we luck out and can get her to do something.

Take your mom-in-law or mom out somewhere special today…it doesn’t have to cost anything. It can be like we did – to a favorite outdoor mall with a koi and turtle pond. I needed some photos shot of my new parasol and some reshoots on some current ones. She helped carry the parasols, suggested places to shoot (by a statue, in front of a rose garden, sitting on a vine-covered column) and watched stuff as we found a wayward turtle crossing the lawn and relocated it back into its pond. They like to feel useful, it was a fun and beautiful day out and we have some great pictures and memories most of all.

  • Gothic Parasols – who needs a white wedding???

Wow, found these today when I was out searching my new hangout Stylehive. Aren’t they awesome? They need some sprucing up with ribbons and flowers. Gonna try it when I get a chance!

  • Ideas for Future Product Lines

You know how you get ideas in the shower? Or when driving? Places that you can’t write them down in? Well, all the time I was at Anime Expo this past week, I was on the lookout for what cosplayers and non-cosplayers were wearing in the way of their costumes and accessories and ideas kept coming to me all throughout the convention. I think mundanes (non-fans) would be shocked and afraid knowing there were TENS OF THOUSANDS of fans and easily 85% of them were in costume. There is an incredibly rich culture that is all theirs and is uniquely diverse, and nothing equals its like in the world.

That makes the choices for serving the needs of the community quite large, even accounting for the fact that I am looking only in areas of my strengths, which are in sewing and beadwork. It is an exciting time and if you are in the Cosplay community I hope you will grant me your feedback so I can better bring you exciting items you will be eager to add to your collections.

    With Love,

    )O( Luna
